Methodology

How these rankings are calculated

Where the data comes from

Tournament entries and standings are read from the EDHTop16 public dataset, which aggregates competitive Commander event results. ScoreSpell counts those results; it does not collect them.

The 90-day window

Only events that finished in the last 90 days are counted, and only events with at least 64 players. Smaller events swing far too hard on a single pod to describe a meta.

Meta share

The share of all counted entries piloting that commander. It measures how often a deck is played, not how well it does.

Top 16 conversion

The share of that commander's entries that finished in the top 16 of their event. This is the performance figure the ranking leans on hardest.

Sample size protection

A commander needs at least 25 counted entries before its conversion rate is treated as stable. Anything thinner is flagged “small sample” and its rate should be read as indicative only.

The ScoreSpell analysis

One representative tournament decklist per commander is analysed once by ScoreSpell and stored, so the page shows a real, fixed readout rather than a fresh result that shifts between visits.
